The mission of Wellsville Elementary School is to produce motivated problem solvers who will develop into responsible lifelong learners. We accomplish this mission by creating a nurturing environment where students, parents and dedicated staff learn together.
Sending out a big thank you to the Rotary Club for donating school supplies again this year. Also, a reminder to parents: If you're having trouble purchasing school supplies please contact your child's teacher.
Summer Literacy Camp Fun!
Written by Scott Vonderheide
Heroes know their task may be hard and sometimes dangerous. They embrace the challenge because they know it will make them stronger, the world a better place, and others will be inspired by their accomplishments. During our Summer Literacy Camp at the elementary school, five students decided they wanted to read books and read them well. Shelby, Makenna, Alivia, Ethan, and Talia (shown above) have been reading books and taking AR quizzes to prove their comprehension of them. They were never satisfied until they scored 100% on every quiz. Their goal as to independently read 100 books. They passed that mark and continued on for a total of 142 books! They are not super heroes - just regular kids being heroic in their own way. Still, if I could grant them a super power, it would be for them to be able to materialize any book, anytime, on whatever they were interested in learning about.
