Letter from Mr. Giopulos

September 7, 2010

Dear Parents and Guardians,

In an effort to keep our children safe, I would like to remind you of the transportation policies that were implemented at the Elementary School last year:  Children must have a regular (Monday through Friday) pick-up and delivery schedule that will stay the same from the start to the end of the school year.  There will be one designated pick-up location and one designated drop-off site for each child; these locations do not have to be the same, but they must remain consistent.  If at any time you have an emergency and there is a need to change your child’s transportation schedule, you must contact the building principal for approval.  You can reach my office at 596-2104.  Please try to get this request to me as early in the day as possible.

If your child regularly rides the bus home and you wish to pick your child up, please send a note in with your child in the morning and have them deliver it to their teacher so that we can notify our transportation department of this change.

If you are planning on driving your child to school, parents and guardians are encouraged to drop their children off using the back parking lot near the tennis courts.  This will prevent children from having to enter the school crossing bus traffic through the bus loop.  All student pick-ups at the end of the school day will also be at the back door near the old tennis courts.  As you enter the Williams Avenue entrance to the school, turn right into the tennis court parking lot to find a parking spot.  Please note: the speed limit around this loop is five miles per hour.  To protect our students and visitors, please do not park along the fence next to the school and playground.  It is my hope that following these procedures will allow for the safe pick-up and delivery home of all our children.  Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Yours in education,

Dean Giopulos

Elementary School Principal
