DECA is a national organization that has high school students from across the nation, Canada, Puerto Rico, Guam and Germany competing in various business subjects, partipating in civic consciousness projects, and developing leadership and teamwork. The competitions consist of a multiple choice question test and role play situations. There are three levels of competition -- Regional Conference, State Career Conference and the International Career Development Conference. WHS is a member of New York State DECA Region 11/13.

State Career Conference: Rochester, NY in March. WHS takes four to six students to the State Career Conference. Regional Competition scores, participation in club activities and attitude are factors in determining who is chosen to compete in Rochester. Over 2,000 students from across the state compete at the State Career Conference. There are both state and national level competitions. Again, students must take a multiple choice question test and participate in role plays. The top five students in the national level competitions win the privilege of competing at the International Career Development Conference.

International Career Development Conference in April: This final competition for the school year welcomes over 13,000 delegates from the US, Guam, Canada, Germany and Puerto Rico. After taking the multiple choice question test and participating in two role plays, the top 20 students are announced as finalists. The finalists then complete a third role play to determine the top 10 overall in their events. This is a great experience for all attending!
